Nicola and Anthony

A family affair on the shores on Lake Como

A good few years ago our team of planners was busy planning and directing another beautiful wedding event: same family, different bride and groom, another location. Anthony and his fiancée couldn't think of a better way to crown their love than following in Anthony's uncle destination wedding in Venice and landing once more in Italy. We couldn't think of a greater privilege to be in charge of organising a second-generation WeddingItaly event!

We loved helping Anthony and Nicole see their dreams come to life with their summer celebrations in the unique setting of Villa del Balbianello.

The vision

Nicola and Anthony's notes

Knowing the family and the key people of the wedding party enabled our work to flow smoothly and skip the initial getting-to-know-each-other phase, which sometimes requires a substantial number of questions and trust, on both sides.

The couple was set on an intimate gathering decorated by the beauty of an Italian villa. Something exclusive, somewhere private. Most waterfront villas we work with guarantee quiet and a very luxurious setting for wedding events of all sizes, which we thought fit well with Nic and Anthony's requirements. We didn't have to show many options before they came back with a favorite, we knew that one of the most exclusive places one can choose is by the shores of Lake Como. That would also work well in accommodating Anthony's grandma's surprise gift, which could easily be a pre-wedding boat tour, for example.

The five deal breakers for Nicola and Anthony

  • Location: luxurious and by the water
  • Ceremony: looking for an intimate symbolic ceremony
  • Venue: exclusive and ideal for small group
  • Guests: 35 people flying from the US
  • Side notes: dinner table setup with romantic details

The action plan

How did we pull it off

The bride making a movie-like entrance on a vintage water taxi driving from Bellagio with her dad, reaching the private dock at the villa. The ceremony set in the Loggia where guests could admire an absolutely incredible view of the lake and avoid the summer heat from the sheltered gallery. The secret gardens dressed for the after-ceremony aperitif in typical stile italiano, followed by a very elegant dinner on the outside terrace. The banquet decorations showed what an exceptional job Nicola did in choosing for a renaissance elegant mood at the dinner table, with toile de jouy fabrics and an impeccable care of all details.
