Unique charm

This stretch of the Tyrrhenian coast is generous with pretty looks and a charming atmosphere. Less known than the two sister towns on the coast, Ravello is a great way to step outside of the daily chaos and retreat into a slower frame of life, from which appreciating nature's gifts feels very organic.

The scenic road marking the rugged cliffs is very narrow and winding, something out-of-towners have to get used to when driving out here, while locals scoot away on their vespas. From the rocky hill where it's sitting at almost 350 metres above sea level, Ravello manages to protect its peaceful aura, offering extra clean air to the residents and all passers-by. From this spot, a web of hiking trails intersects bringing you closer to evergreen Mediterranean specimens populating the ground.

Recreational activities

Get creative

A multitude of fun activities you have the fortune to do here. Choose the seaside, with boat tours taking you to private coves and crystalline grottos where you can dive, snorkel or simply bask in the sun. A pedalo boat or a kayak option can be romantic alternatives to an overcrowded tour and you get to choose where and when to stop. Adrenaline seekers will also be happy to know that waterskiing and other active ways to enjoy the sea are all viable activities that you can book at your hotel, or in one of the cabins marking the private lidos at the beach.

Ravello doesn't have direct access to the shore since it's up on a hill, so from this location by foot, you can venture on long walks of the mountain area, or take the trail downhill to the town of Maiori, your closest seaside gateway. Introvert tourists have discovered that the best time of the day to really take in all the beauty of this passionate land is before businesses open in the morning around 8. Get up early, preferably at sunrise to avoid big buses and aggressive use of car horns, and you'll be rewarded with a spectacular sky view at that hour.

Keep busy with:

  • a day at the beach in Salerno
  • climbing to the top of Castello di Arechi
  • a boat tour to discover the coast
  • an afternoon at the glass museum in Vietri sul Mare
  • the foodie scene in Cetara
  • a trip to the mountains, towards Tramonti
  • a stop at Pasticceria Sal del Riso in Minori
